The Dissident

Film Branding / Titles / Narrative Graphic Sequences

When Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi disappears in Istanbul, his fiancée and dissidents around the world piece together the clues to murder and expose a global cover-up.

After the success of Icarus, I was asked to provide creative direction for the upcoming film, The Dissident. In working with Bryan Fogel, and many creatives at Odd, we helped tell the unseen story of the digital global landscape and what happens behind closed doors.

From the pitch, I provided an extensive creative direction that established a commercial package and execution towards branding, and special sequences throughout the film.

My role was to oversee the visual approach to various sequences with a holistic approach to branding. I created the design of the opening, and ending title sequences and established the cadence of the Twitter sequence, and designed various directions for the information of the killing sequence.

Many of my initial design frames remained throughout the shots for delivery, however, I also lead creative direction to refine the approach to better suit our production timeline and meet delivery, and extremely proud of the team at Odd.
